Assistance available to Help Pay for Internet Service
Published by: Medicare Rights Center
The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) may be able to help you pay for internet service. This government program offers a monthly discount on new or existing internet service plans. Additionally, you may be eligible for a one-time device discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers.
Research suggests that increased broadband access is linked to improved health outcomes. With better internet access, using resources like Medicare.gov to compare nursing homes and hospitals or find the best health plan for you is easier.
To apply for the ACP, visit AffordableConnectivity.gov or call 1-877-384-2575. Once approved, contact a participating internet service provider to start receiving your monthly discount. Remember that only one monthly service and one device discount are allowed per household.
Do I Qualify?
Here are the ways your household can qualify for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP):
- Based on your household income
- If you or your child or dependent participate in specific government assistance programs such as SNAP, Medicaid, WIC, or other programs
- If you or anyone in your household already receives a Lifeline benefit
Note: You may qualify for the ACP through a participating provider’s existing low-income program. Visit our How to Apply page to learn more.
